Munich, Germany. "Nano Solutions 2007" (Frankfurt) will play host to a WTC workshop on the new roadmap for Carbon Nanotubes called ARCORC. For this study, WTC conducted interviews with key players worldwide. The results of this comprehensive survey will be presented exclusively and for the first time in a free-of-charge workshop to be held in Frankfurt on the 23rd November 2007.
Supported by the Sixth
Framework Programme (FP6) of the European Community, the study's goal was to
develop a technology roadmap for Carbon Nanotube-based systems. "ARCORC" or the
Applied Research Roadmaps for Carbon
Nanotubes: Opportunities, Requirements, Challenges is the result of a one year investigation by WTC into
technological trends and the current market situation.
Carbon nanotubes are among
the most promising materials discovered in the "nano cosmos" up to now.
Potential mass market applications for these materials include memory devices,
fuel cells and drug delivery tools. The actors in some industries are already
harvesting the fruits of early investment, but these same industries still lack
a roadmap--one that will help set a clear strategy in terms of development and
time-to-market.
WTC will demonstrate possible technological development scenarios covering the
next 5 to 15 years and detail the barriers and financial requirements. The
study was led by WTC, in partner-ship with the University of Cambridge and Sineurop Nanotech GmbH from Germany.
